Chris Beroes-Haigis

Chris Beroes-Haigis is a New Orleans-based musician who composes, arranges, records and performs in a range of styles; from the fully notated to the fully improvised. As a cellist and guitarist, Chris performs regularly with artists such as Chris Christy, The GET, Sofia Mock, Semaj & The Blues Experiment, Sarah Quintana, Carmela Rappazzo, Paul Sanchez, and Russell Welch. His collaboration with guitarist and composer Gaby Fuentes, entitled Cuentista — an album of original cello and guitar duos composed and performed by both Gaby and him — was released on FREETHE Entertainment in 2022. Chris was selected as a finalist in both the 2022 ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Awards for his work "Short Run" for orchestra and the 2022 Catalyst Quartet CQ Minute Competition for his work "Willowride" for string quartet. Recent performances of his music include the live premiere of “Spoken in Waves” for solo cello and string quartet at the Charles Ives Music Festival in the summer of 2024. A video performance and recording made by the piece’s dedicatee, cellist Cicely Parnas, was released in December 2023, on YouTube and Bandcamp.
